So I am finally going to fill these out, even though I usually feel kinda ridiculous answering most of these questions for everyone. I am much more of a dialog kind of person... So a bit of the basics:

I am 23 year old student living in Santa Cruz Ca. I am a transplant but not from far I grew up in *lovely* Hollister moved to this area about 2 years ago for school. I love that I am closer to the coast I try to get out to the beach with my puppy at least once a week, but much more when the weather is nice. That brings me another point I am a big fan of animals I only have one pet right now a little black and tan Shiba Inu, but I have been notorious for bringing home anything and everything.

Well I am recently single got out of a long term relationship earlier this year, and finally starting to get out into the social aspect of Santa Cruz. I am really not much of a drinker so the bar/club scene is really not my cup of tea but thankfully there is more to Santa Cruz than that :). I have also noticed that many of us UCSC students seem to segregate ourselves to our hill so I am currently trying to rectify this even if just by wondering down Pacific or West Cliff aimlessly.

Well, I hate these self-summaries, but here's a little about me. I have 2 wonderful teenagers, I love nature, I enjoy hikes, the beach and family vacations. I like to go camping, and don't find it necesary to bring the entire bathroom with me, but do enjoy close access to running water. Bugs are cool (as long as they don't bite). I don't intend to every fully grow up, but still manage to be a responsible adult who enjoys letting the little kid loose.

how does one go about describing their self? is it really just a self-projection to strangers of who you could be or want to be instead of what you really are? or is it a place for closeted narcissist to be able to talk about their favorite subject incognito? what happens to the select few that don't know how to adequately write a decent self-summary? do they get over looked for lack of an interesting string of words even if they happen to be a very interesting individual? i think it really comes down to opinion and perception. i will write my own opinion of myself but you will only see me how you perceive me.

that being said, i think a lot but do or say things without thinking first. if anything i tend to contradict myself more often than not in manners, likes and habits, but i try my hardest to never go back on my word. i could sit here and tell you all my likes and dislikes, but that changes far too often. i tend to live in the minute but savor the complexities of a simpler world.

i speak my mind. i think a key problem with the world today is everyone pansy-foots around the issues. i don't have the time or the patience to deal with that. i think everything should be laid out on the table from the beginning to limit problems down the road.

i'm an empath. both a blessing and a curse it enables me to understand why people do what they do, but i also feel bound to help. although i don't mind helping, too much can be overwhelming sometimes.

Well what do I really say about myself...when sometimes I am not sure who I am. That is most likely like everybody else in the world. We imagine who we are or create guidelines in our lives to follow, which when followed, we are then able to identify exactly who we are. I guess you could call me a geek, but I'm not as geeky as some. I like video games, anime, and comics, but they do not by any means control my life. Friends have told me that I'm a person that's really into what I do, but very easy going at the same time. Study and train in Aikido. Scuba Instructor on the side. Ride motorcycles, love convertibles. Iâ??m very well traveled, but still a lot of places to explore. Take photographs and video both above and under water. Occasionally make movies with a small degree of success! An adventure streak a mile wide. A hopeless romantic. Making my S.O. other's day is my idea of a great day. Nutty, dry, witty British humor is what I find really funny. Can cook to save my life. I like a woman like myself who's not afraid to try new things. She engages in some type of physical activity. I'm a relatively likeable and interesting individual who is absolutely terrible at selling himself. I like to think that I'm an intelligent human being, though I've certainly been guilty of doing things which call that into question. I enjoy playing games, hanging out and talking, and just having fun in general, but then again I've never really met anyone who says they enjoy being miserable. (though I've met quite a few people who do enjoy it, but won't admit to it) I love the great outdoors, and like to hike, camp, climb, or pretty much anything that gets me out in the woods.

I'm a good listener, horrible punster, obsessive reader. Fun at parties (although not the dancing-on-the-furniture type, I'm more likely to stick around and help clean up!) I don't get out often enough but I'm working on it. I embrace paradox; I'm a cynical romantic, an idealistic pragmatist, a friendly misanthrope. If that sounds confusing, well, consistency is only occasionally one of my virtues.

I have three kids (single dad alert!) and like animals- have had lizards, snakes, cats, etc. I'm a technophile, prefer email to phone for many things (not all) but face-to-face is best. I don't think you can really summarize one's self easily for many reasons but I'll try my best as awkward as it feels. I'm new to online dating and a bit hesitant. My sister found her fiance here so who knows.

I'm a sincere, honest, regular down-to-earth guy. I have a few insecurities like everyone else but it doesn't effect my life greatly. I'm intelligent and somewhat shy with a sarcastic sometimes twisted sense of humor. I have traveled a lot in my life and always like to go to new places. I'm laid-back with a calm personality. I joke too much and find humor in almost anything (inappropriately so). I also have great social skills and manners when i apply them. I'm very easy to get along with. I try not to judge people. I've been lucky in my life that i have a loving family who raised me right. I try to spend time with my parents since they live close to me; we squeeze in time when possible. Also they divorced 7 years ago so i get to juggle between the 2 of them especially during the holidays.

My love right now is playing hockey-both roller and ice. It's good exercise and i have the most fun playing that of all sports that I've played or play (tennis, basketball, baseball, ping pong :>). If you aren't into it that's cool; you may not enjoy professional sports but at least you could come watch ME play because I'll want to show off for friends, dates and family. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a jock at all! I just like sports and i need the exercise to stay in shape and keep me on top of life's eventual pitfalls and bouts of depression, loneliness, confusion and despair...

Finally, I have a history of injuring myself typically from sports play. Friends and co-workers make fun of me for it all the time. I think I've broken at least 7 bones over my lifetime including 3 fake teeth :) So I'd like to think I'm a tough guy (can you be tough from klutziness?) but really I'm a softy on the inside. I was born in Los Angeles, quickly moved to North Carolina, then Kansas, Indiana, and Virginia beofore returning to California. I've lived up and down the California coast, but have finally settled in Santa Cruz where I have lived for 10 plus years. I'm in education and love the work that I do. I'm a backpacker and a traveller. I have a hard time sitting still. Wherever I am I believe in bringing a book and a jacket. I enjoy reading and TV, walking, laughing, and joking around. I'm not so into clubbing or bars. My dance skills are severely lacking and I have zero ability to drink like a gentleman. I know nothing about professional sports, but I do like to snowboard and have played league softball off and on over the years. I'm getting older. I'm looking for the one I can do these things with over the long-haul.

Damn. I keep rewriting this every few weeks after reading whatever I've got and balking -- "ahh, they'll think I'm a geek!" ...But you know, considering the sorts I'd be most interested in attracting, perhaps that's not such a bad thing after all. And so, once more -- with feeling!

Growing up in my groups of friends, I guess I tended to be the cautious "wait a second, is this a good idea?" guy. Slow and steady wins the race, 'tis better to be safe than sorry, look before you leap -- those have been mantras I've pretty much lived by for most of my entire life. It's worked I guess, to an extent -- I've walked a steady path and have been able to achieve many of my goals...Though I've been doing some re-evaluating lately and to be honest, I'm growing a bit tired of being such an open book. I'm open to exploring other options, to keep things more interesting.

My heart genuinely swoons for the carefree, whimsical, wonderful things (Roald Dahl and Lewis Carroll were absolute favorites in my childhood) and after a considerable amount of independent philosophical reflection in my youth I cheerfully opt to intentionally maintain an optimistic outlook on life in general. All the same, I find the dark, twisted, savage underpinnings in so many creative works (and in life itself) exhilerating and scintillating (I daresay fucking neat) and I embrace them more readily than I suppose one might expect of such a cheerful, happy-go-lucky, patient, and moderate fellow. Particularly, I find the juxtaposition of the former with the latter, either a stark contrast or an ingenious and gleefully insidious intermingling of the two to be particularly...fantastic. I guess that's why I like The Nightmare Before Christmas so much (that and it's a musical).

I'm an accomplished computer, movie, anime, comic book, and video game geek. I will warn you -- I love wordplay, and so enjoy musicals (well you know, rhyming) and puns (a lot). I consider myself a determinist, a humanist, a die-hard rationalist, and a right-handed lefty. I'm traditionally an indoor sort (I love hosting movie-watching parties at my apartment), but have recently taken up biking. I have a very deep interest in education and consider it an absolutely fundamentally important issue, and love to teach whenever the opportunity avails itself; helping random hobbyists online has been a fantastic outlet for me.

If a picture is worth a thousand words than you're better off looking at my picture than you are reading this. There might be something wrong with that saying. I think about language way too much. Majoring in Linguistics tends to have that effect. The first question I always get is what languages am I learning which is actually something you don't technically have to do for the major but hey, the fact they know the two are related is a start. As it were I am slowly studying Japanese and in the past I've studied Spanish. Mostly, however, I enjoy the Linguistics of the English language. In otherwords, I think way too much about how language works and why. That being said, I do have other hobbies and interests. I really enjoy good food. Going to a really good restaurant or cooking a great meal from scratch can be a great way to spend a free evening. Though I haven't practiced either regularly for some time now I'm always interested in martial arts as well as tennis. A good book movie or game is always welcome but I try not to get to caught up in media. Even so, I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend my fair share of time in front of monitors TVs and books. I like to get away from media though and I find that my best friends and loved ones are the people who can pull me out of the daily routine and get me out and adventuring. I like it when my life is whimsical and unpredictable. Schedules and deadlines bother me and while I accept them as necessary to make it very far in todays world I never have enjoyed the super structured way of living. The other day a housemate of mine and his girlfriend asked me suddenly around midnight if I wanted to go ghosthunting. Most people wouldn't go I suppose or at least might ask what they meant. Maybe I'm weird that way but the idea of going ghosthunting, no matter what they meant, was too good to pass up. I don't turn down spontaneity often and I love it when it's around. Suprise me.

I'm a fairly outdoorsy person. I love movies and music. I have a large dog and a ferret and I adore them both. I love travel, meeting new people, exploring new places, good food, and good conversation. I'm passionate about life. I'm very blunt and people always know where they stand with me. I try to be a fair person and spend a fair bit of time thinking about "The Big Issues." I can be a bit argumentative but it's all in good fun. I also tend to be a bit flighty and hard to pin down, but when something captures my interests I'm nothing if not dedicated.

I adore the stealth the efficient as much as the unneccessary. So, even I find it hard to believe, that for the last 10 years I have been an organic farmer and shepherdess / fiber artist. I actually pulled a lamb one late night in one of my nicest full length dresses. It washed up fine, so did the lamb. Doesn't usually preclude worthy late night adventures though sometimes its hard to get the rural community in a panties-uproar. During the day I am colored and covered in wool and some residual after glow of color play, dirty fingernails but fancy underpants, and have as many bruises and scratches as my kids, will race them to the top of the tree. Dont ask about my barefeet. For the first time I have had the opportunity to design and craft a barn/living space remodel, almost done and love the satiny touch of burnished venetian plaster..
